About Us

Portchester Community Association (PCA) has a proud and interesting history, engendering a tremendous local goodwill. Founded in 1962, it is one of the longest established Associations in Hampshire.

As one of thirteen Associations in the Fareham Borough, and one of over 100 in Hampshire, PCA shares common aims with many organisations including Hampshire County Council and other public bodies that contribute resources of interest.

PCA has always strives to meet local needs and, for many years, has hosted events, taster days and other initiatives designed to foster community spirit and cater for local interests. PCA also works in partnership with other agencies promoting joint activities.

We are based at the Community Hub, 2 New Parade, 38 West Street, Portchester in the heart of the precinct.

The Association is a registered charity and is governed by a board of trustees. Trustees are elected and nominated by association members, who represent groups as diverse as Lunch Club to Prime Time.

PCA is an independent charitable membership organisation providing activities, facilities and services to local people.  The association runs many member-led groups (known as Sections), organises events and works in partnership with local agencies to address community needs.  In 2013, PCA moved to its current central location where it has developed new initiatives to meet local interests.  Activities include arts, sports, IT, children and family services, adult and community learning and services for older people.  PCA also organises the Portchester Gala and the Portchester Precinct Christmas tree and lights.
